Avon Gear Company was founded by Ralph "Dick" Fike in 1974.  The company started in a 10,000-sq. foot facility at 394 South Street in Rochester, Michigan.  As the business grew during the 1980's so did the need for larger facilities.  As a result, Avon Gear purchased an additional 16,000 and 3,600-sq. feet of adjacent manufacturing space at 410 and 396 South Street. 

In 1996 Avon Gear Company was purchased by Okubo Gear of Japan, (www.Okubo-Gear.co.jp), and relocated to a new 60,000-sq. foot modern facility located at 2770 Research Drive, Rochester Hills, Michigan.  Dick Fike retired in 1998 and Aaron Remsing, Avon's previous Vice President, stepped in as President of Avon Gear Company.

In 2008 Avon Gear moved to its current 110,000 square foot facility in Shelby Twp. at 11968 Investment Dr. and David Share accepted the position of President.
